Macmillan Cancer Support is working together with Colchester
Borough Council to provide the Macmillan Welfare Benefits Service
for the North East Essex Area (which includes Tendring). They
provide a specialist service for cancer patients, their families
and carers who live in this area. They are there to help them
maximise their income and assist with any other related issues they
may have.
A diagnosis of cancer may raise concerns about their financial
security. For example they may experience difficulties with
employment, paying bills, claiming benefits, etc. These are
important issues that need to be dealt with but are often left
aside. They are there to help take the pressure away and support
them through this difficult time. |
 |
What they offer
Macmillan Cancer Support will work closely with the patient or
their representative to identify the problems they are experiencing
and advise them of their options available. Specialist advisers can
act on their behalf to offer a free, confidential and impartial
service.
They can help with completing forms and provide support through
obstacles faced and have access to a range of other services
available to make life easier. The aim is to strive to ensure that
people affected by cancer receive the support and help they
need.
