Children are placed in the care of Essex
County Council's Children's Services for many different reasons.
Most of these children will be placed in foster families until they
are ready to return to their own families. Children who can't
return to their birth parents or other members of their extended
family may be waiting for an adoptive family.
All kinds of people are needed to become adoptive parents
and foster carers for all types of children. However, most children
needing foster and adoptive homes are aged three or older, many
need to stay with their brothers and sisters and some may have
special needs. Foster families that can look after young mother and
baby placements are also needed.
