The Council has a duty to ensure that
businesses comply with Health and Safety
legislation.
Tendring District Council's Health and Safety Team carry
out regular inspections of local businesses and business premises
to ensure that safe and healthy working conditions are provided for
all employees and visitors. Tendring District Council's Health and
Safety team are also responsible for the enforcement of the
Smokefree Regulations.
Local authorities are generally responsible for premises
such as offices, shops and residential homes, whereas factories,
industrial premises, nursing homes, farms, hospitals and schools
and the movement of dangerous goods and substances fall under the
jurisdiction of the Health and Safety Executive
(HSE).
