How do I dispose of an unwanted fridge/freezer or other electrical/electronic appliance?


The Council's contractors Veolia provide a service where they will remove up to three large items, for a charge. Please telephone Veolia direct on 01255 431620 for details of the current charge and to arrange collection.

You can dispose of a refrigerator or other electrical/electronic appliances free at any of Essex County Council's Household Recycling Centres. See the Household Recycling Centres page for more details including location and opening times.

However, if your appliance is in good working order then T.R.E.E (Tendring Reuse and Employment Enterprise) may be interested in it and will collect it from you free of charge. The item will be cleaned and tested for safety and sold at low cost to raise funds that support people with learning difficulties training for work.
