Rules on agricultural waste

Stop Tipping

The agricultural waste regulations affect whether or not waste can be burnt, buried, stored or used on a farm or sent elsewhere.

New agricultural waste regulations came into force on 15 May 2006. Farmers cannot use the farm to tip/dump. They cannot burn plastics and other materials that give rise to pollution and/or harm.

The Environment Agency has produced a guide to help farmers manage their waste under the rules. It aims to provide a basic introduction to the rules and how to comply with them - New rules on agricultural waste (pdf document, you will need the free adobe acrobat reader software to open this document)
