The Pollution Team investigate complaints from the public concerning commercial, industrial and domestic pollution problems and public health nuisances including:

• noise
• smoke (bonfires) (pdf document)

• rubbish accumulations (pdf document)
• pests
• lighting (pdf document)

They also undertake the:

• authorisation of certain prescribed processes that have the potential to cause pollution
• approval of furnace installations, arrestment plant and chimney heights
• monitoring of local air quality
• investigation of contaminated land
• enforcement of standards for rural and mains drainage systems
• testing of private water supplies e.g. boreholes and wells
• provision of public health funerals

You can report problems with noise, black smoke from bonfires, rubbish accumulations etc. using our complaint/enquiry form, a simple form which you can complete and submit online.
