If you break certain pollution laws, we can issue you with a fixed penalty notice . If you pay the fee within the timescale given, the penalty will be ended. There is usually a right of appeal.

The Pollution Section also has powers to deal with environmental pollution by carrying out work in default, seizing equipment and bringing prosecutions.
