| Existing Local Planning Policy (Adopted
Local Plan) |
|
 |
The Adopted Local Plan provides the current policy framework for
future development and the use of land in Tendring. Most
development and changes of use of land require planning permission
from the Council. The Local Plan is the main starting point in
deciding planning applications and provides the guidance for
rational and consistent decisions across the district. The Local
Plan consists of a Written Statement containing planning policies
and a Proposals Map indicating where those policies apply across
the district.

In 2000, we
asked people to tell us about the key issues facing the district
that should be addressed in the Local Plan. We spent the next four
years gathering evidence and preparing a first draft of the Local
Plan, which was placed on consultation in 2004. We took comments
received into account and prepared a revised draft, which was
placed on consultation in 2005. A number of Pre-Inquiry changes
were also consulted on in 2006. The process culminated in a
Public Inquiry which
ran from September 2006 until April 2007. Following receipt of
the binding
Inspector's Report the Council
adopted the Local Plan on 11 December 2007.
The Local
Plan will remain in force until formally replaced by the
Local Development
Framework. |
