Core Strategy and Development Policies - Public Consultation on the Proposed Submission Draft (21st October - 6th December 2010)

Image of CoreStrategy The Council's "Proposed Submission Draft" of the Core Strategy and Development Policies Document was placed on public consultation between 21st October and 6th December 2010. During this time people were invited to submit comments on the draft Core Strategy and set out changes they felt were needed.

This time the document set out the Council's preferred vision for the future of the district over the next 20 years (i.e. 2011-2031) and preferred option for distributing new homes and jobs across the district. This document was based on technical evidence and national planning policy but was also heavily influenced by the comments received at the Issues and Options stage. A series of exhibitions and workshops were held throughout the district where officers were available to discuss the proposals, address any issues and answer any questions.

All comments received will be carefully considered before the Council assesses whether it still considers the Core Strategy to be sound (i.e. justified by robust evidence, effective in delivering the desired outcomes and in accordance with national planning policy). If we still consider the document to be sound it will be submitted to the Secretary of State where the process of examination will begin. If the Council considers the Core Strategy to be 'unsound' in light of the representations received, the Council must decide what changes are needed to make the document sound and carry out the necessary consultation before submitting to the Secretary of State for examination of the issues raised.
