What is the Tendring District Replacement Local Plan?

The Tendring District Replacement Local Plan, when formally adopted, will contain policies and proposals to guide development in the Tendring District in the period up to 2011. Being one of the Council's most important policy documents that will have a major bearing on the district's future, members of the public and other stakeholders have already been given the opportunity to comment on and influence the content of the Plan.

The Plan was subjected to two periods of public consultation in May-July 2004 (First Deposit Draft) and November-December 2005 (Re-Deposit Draft). During this time the Council received many comments including a number of objections proposing 'omission sites'.

What are 'Omission Sites'?

Omission sites include:

1. Land suggested by an objector as an allocation (e.g. for housing development)
2. Land where an alternative use to that proposed is suggested.
3. Sites where a material change to the boundary of a site allocated in the Plan is suggested.

It is important to emphasise that Tendring District Council is not promoting these sites for development. These sites are being promoted by objectors to the Replacement Local Plan as alternative options for development. These objectors are, in the majority of cases, landowners and developers.

The sites that have been proposed for development by the Council are specifically allocated in the Re-Deposit Draft of the Replacement Local Plan which can be viewed at the Council Offices and on the Council's website www.tendringdc.gov.uk.

How do I use this document?

Appendix One of this document contains a schedule of all the site omissions that were received at the First Deposit Draft stage in 2004 (but that were not subsequently endorsed by the Council in the Re-Deposit Draft) and site omissions that were received at the Re-Deposit Draft stage in 2005. They are listed by area in relation to the Proposals Map Insets that form part of the Replacement Local Plan.

Appendix Two contains a location plan for each of the sites in question with information about that site including a summary of what the objector is suggesting in terms of change to the Replacement Local Plan.

The consultation period for all Omission Sites has expired.
