Historic Parks and Gardens
There are three English Heritage
registered Historic Parks and Gardens in Tendring District. Thorpe
Hall, Thorpe-le-Soken; The Priory, St Osyth and The Seafront
Gardens, Clacton-on-Sea. Details of the descriptions and

Harwich Streetscape Design Guide
The Haven Gateway Partnership has produced a Master Plan for the
"Old Harwich" part of the town. providing a framework to guide
large scale waterside development and improvements to the
Conservation Area. The Master Plan has been formally adopted by the
Council as a Supplementary Planning Interim Document and is
incorporated into the Replacement Local Plan.
Following up on the proposals in the Harwich Master Plan for
public realm enhancement works a
Design Statement has been prepared showing how the Quayside and
Gateway areas are to be improved. The proposals involve using high
quality materials and street furniture, constructing a new car park
for visitors at Gas House Creek and the paving of large parts of
the Quayside making it more pedestrian friendly. Most of the car
parking on the quay is to be removed.
The proposals have been subject to public consultation and the
Design Statement has now been formally adopted as a Supplementary
Planning Interim Document
Dovercourt Town Centre and Townscape Heritage Initiative.
A Draft Town Centre Strategy has
been published for consultation purposes, which , when complete,
will provide the basis for environmental and other improvements to
the shopping centre and Conservation Area. In addition a Townscape
Heritage Initiative has been launched in Dovercourt covering the
Victoria Street, Orwell Terrace, and adjoining parts of the High
Street. Grant Aid will be available for the repair of Historic
Buildings in this part of the Conservation Area. Further details
