Development
Control (The planning department) looks at
planning applications and appeals. They are the department to
contact to see if you need planning consent for proposed work, they
publish the
weekly lists of applications and decisions.

Most planning
applications are determined by planning officers but some are
considered by the
Development Control Committee, (The Planning
Committee) who meet approximately every three weeks. A
calendar of meetings is available
here.
Using
Public Access for Planning you can obtain
the details of valid applications and even make comments on
applications that have not been determined. It is possible to track
the progress of an application and to view decisions made.

In
2007 a
Tendring District Design Award was established to
help developers focus on better design in the
district.
