Tendring District Council's Development Control Committee
(Planning
Committee - dates and details) meets every three weeks to be
advised of current appeals, to make decisions about planning
enforcement issues and determine those applications outside the
scope of officers' delegated powers, those of a contentious
nature and those in which either a council member or an officer
has an interest.
The Council operates a
public speaking scheme at its DCC meetings. Under the scheme,
up to 4 people may address the DCC meeting for up to 3 minutes
each. Those who may speak are one objector only and one supporter
only and also (whether for or against) a representative of the
local parish council (if any) and any of the District Councillors
for the ward of the application site. If the applicant or his agent
wishes to speak he will be the last public speaker on the
application and will be allowed to speak in preference to any
competing "supporter".
If you would like to speak, please contact Mrs Sue Archibald on
01255 686585 by no later than 4.00 pm on the day of the meeting or,
if you arrive early for the meeting in the Council Chamber by 7.00
pm, you can make your wish known to a Council officer.
When the planning applications are considered by the DCC, the
applications with public speaking are normally considered before
the others. When the time comes, the Chairman will identify the
planning application the DCC is about to consider; this is followed
by an oral officer presentation with plans (and update if
appropriate), then public speaking, next questions from DCC Members
and finally debate in order to determine the application.
