| Is truancy the same as unauthorised
absence? |
| Essentially yes. Most people think of truancy as children
and young people missing school, without the knowledge of
parents/carers and/or school. In fact this is only a relatively
small part of unauthorised absence. In the main it comprises
absence from school with the knowledge of and, all too frequently,
the condoning of it by the parent(s) or
carer(s). |
