It's official! The world famous Red Arrows will be
performing on both days of this year's Clacton Air Show.
The team took to the skies twice during last year's
crowd-pulling event - and has confirmed that it has booked both
August 27 and 28 into the 2009 schedule.
The Red Arrows are acknowledged as one of the world's premier
aerobatic teams and always prove popular with flight fans.
The Hawk aircraft used in displays are mainly made of British
components and the team demonstrates both British skill and
technology to millions of people every year.
Plans for the Clacton Air Show, which is organised by Tendring
District Council's (TDC) Leisure Services, are taking shape.
A whole list of other aircraft is being lined-up to take part
and details are due to be revealed at a later date.
Les Double, TDC's Portfolio Holder for Community, Partnership
and Renewal, said he was delighted the Red Arrows would be at
Clacton on both days again this year.
"This is great news for everyone involved in the event -
especially those who will be coming along to the show," he
said.
"It means that if they can only get there on one day they will
not miss out, or alternatively they can see the Red Arrows display
twice.
Cllr Double said that he expected the full programme to take
shape over the coming weeks and that fans would not be
disappointed.
"They will be plenty to suit everyone - and all tastes - both in
the air and on the ground," he added.
The show is in its 18th year and attracted around 120,000
visitors and residents to the site, which is centred on the West
Greensward, in 2008.
