Former Frinton hotelier Nick Turner is celebrating ten years as a Tendring District Councillor by becoming its new chairman.

Councillor Turner, 61, first moved to the District in 1990 when he bought the Maplin Hotel on Frinton seafront.

He sold the hotel in 2002 and retired, but still lives in the town.

Cllr Turner has also been a Frinton and Walton Town Councillor since 1995, is a member of Frinton in Bloom, Frinton and Walton Heritage Trust, Walton and Frinton Yacht Club and Frinton Golf Club.

"I love Frinton and living in the Tendring District," he said.

"My theme for my year in office is Civic Pride. That means pride in the area and the Council.

"I want us to maintain and enhance our facilities, the environment, housing stock and improve our services to the community. This will help bring about regeneration."

Cllr Turner took over the role from Cllr Roy Smith at the last meeting of the Full Council.
