Making Planning More Accessible

Residents across Tendring are set to benefit from a host of fresh initiatives which will give them greater access to planning issues in the District.

The Council has been working hard to come up with new ways for people to get the information they require - and from the comfort of the own home.

Now a number of exciting developments have been introduced which should make life a lot easier for many.

All the new developments will be available via our Planning web pages

They include allowing people with suitable Internet connections to:

  • View key documents relating to planning applications
  • Submit comments on planning applications which are waiting to be decided
  • View an interactive Local Plan via the Council's Planning Web pages - which provides useful information about the Council's approved policies for land across the District
  • Access a link to the Government's Planning Portal which gives detailed information about the need for planning permission and building regulation requirements.

Iris Johnson, Portfolio Holder for Planning at TDC, said the initiatives should make a huge difference for many people.

"It is a significant step forward and will improve the service that we can provide for our residents and businesses," she said.

"We have commissioned this so that anyone can access much of the information which might be needed regarding planning issues without having to leave the home or workplace."

Where people submit comments on planning applications they will be placed into the back office system so that the planning officers can consider them.
