Last Chance to Buy a Low Cost Compost Bin

Tendring District Council (TDC) has joined forces with the Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP) to encourage residents to get composting this summer.

To help achieve this, it is offering a limited number of compost bins at bargain prices - but you'll need to hurry, as the offer ends on 30 September.

The offer is designed to help people to do their bit for the environment without the tug on the purse strings.

Compost bins will be available for as little as £22, including delivery. So far more than 20,000 compost bins have already been sold in Tendring since the scheme was set up more than ten years ago.

Councillor Lynda McWilliams, TDC's Cabinet Member for the Environment, said: "If you want to do your bit to help the environment, but aren't sure how to incorporate recycling into an already busy lifestyle, then composting at home is an easy way to make a difference.

"This great offer being run by the Council is the perfect excuse to get started - so don't miss out on these bargain bins!"

Recycling kitchen and garden waste by putting it in a compost bin not only produces nutritious compost to help gardens bloom, but it also reduces the amount of waste we leave out for collection and send to landfill.

About a third of household waste can be composted at home - this includes kitchen and household waste (egg shells, kitchen paper, fruit and vegetable peelings, tea bags and even shredded bank statements) as well as garden waste (grass cuttings, pruning's and twigs).

Every day thousands of tonnes of this kind of waste are sent to the tip and there is an urgent need to reduce the amount sent to landfill.

If you put your household and kitchen items into the compost bin this prevents it from being sent to landfill and provides you with high-quality, free compost for you to use in your garden.

So hurry and order your compost bin today and make the most of this fantastic offer. Visit www.recyclenow.com/compost or call 0845 076 0223 to order.
