Visitors should be making their way to Tendring this
summer - if the demand for the Essex Sunshine Coast Holiday Guide
is anything to go by.
Tendring District Council (TDC), which publishes the guide, had
25,000 printed for this season and most of them have been
dispatched to all areas of the UK and beyond.
There are only just over 300 left and a reprint is being ordered
to have more ready to meet any further demand.
One of the Council's distributers of the guide recently
requested copies to display at the Best of British and Ireland Show
in London.
Les Double, TDC's Portfolio Holder for Community, Partnerships
and Renewal, said he was delighted with the interest in holidays,
shorts breaks and days out in the District.
"Only time will tell as to how many people visit Tendring but
the signs are very promising," he said.
"There is an expectation in the current economic climate that
many will choose to holiday at home this year - especially due to
the exchange rate for the Euro.
"However, people will be looking to see where they can get the
best value for money - as well as what's on offer in the area - and
providers need to bear that in mind."
The holiday guide is free of charge and helps to attract
thousands of people to Tendring.
It aims to give the visitor a complete holiday planner with the
latest information on places to stay, where to eat, and ideas for
great days out.
Sarah Daniells, TDC's Tourism and Marketing Manager, said the
take-up of last year's guide was excellent and that was now being
matched in 2009.
"The format of the guide was updated in 2008 and it has proved
very popular," she said.
"Demand for the guide is the first indication we get about
whether people are going to be interested in looking to come to
Tendring during the year."
Information contained in the guide goes onto TDC's tourism
website,
