Almost 300 children were given a free taxi ride to Clacton
for a day of fun and entertainment.
The youngsters from the Southend area arrived at Clacton Town
Hall to be greeted by the Chairman of Tendring District Council,
Roy Smith.
Along with members and friends of Southend Taxi Drivers'
Association they then descended on Clacton Beach and the Pier.
Later in the day they headed back to the Town Hall where they
enjoyed refreshments in The Princes Theatre. A disco and
entertainment from a magician was also laid on for them.
Cllr Smith said that he was delighted to get the chance to meet
them and see the children have such a good time.
"The taxi drivers do a fantastic job in providing these children
with a day to remember," he said.
"We are pleased they chose to bring them to Clacton and I could
tell from their happy faces that they had a wonderful time."
The whole event is funded by the Southend Taxi Drivers'
Association and it is an annual
trip. |
