The final programme of aircraft preparing to take to the
runway for the Clacton Air Show continues to grow.
Tendring District Council - which runs the event which will take
place on August 21 and 22 over the West Greensward - has now signed
up the Essex Air Ambulance.
The helicopter, the only one involved in this year's show, has
agreed to display on both days.
The Council has also been able to confirm the Hunter aircraft
will be taking part on the Friday.
It means that it is one of the most exciting line-ups to date
and will include the world famous Red Arrows on both days, Tutor,
Tucano, Hawk, Mustang, T28 Fennec, Guinot Wingwalkers, Blades,
Typhoon, the ever popular Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and a
Glider.
All but the Hunter will make an appearance on both Thursday and
Friday.
Programmes detailing the full schedule are now available, priced
£2, from Tourist Information Centres in Clacton, Harwich and Walton
and all Council cash offices as well as the Factory Shopping
Village.
Organisers will be hoping for fine weather to ensure that
everything goes ahead to plan.
On the ground the Dream 100 Roadshow will be back by popular
demand on Friday August 22 and will be setting up by Clacton Pier.
As ever they will be drawing huge crowds in the last couple of
hours running up to the flights.
The Roadshow will run from 12pm to 2pm and will feature New
Girls in Town. Dream 100 will also be up on the West Greensward
throughout the two days.
Other attractions include the Kiss Interactive Dome, a Mascot
Race in Clacton Town Centre, the Tendring District Council Leisure
Tent, on site catering, trade stands and various ground
entertainment.
This will be the 17th Annual Clacton Air Show and it is hoped
that it will pull in around 100,000 flight fans over the two
days.
Les Double, Tendring District Council's Portfolio Holder for
Regeneration, said the event promised to be one of the best
yet.
"We definitely have a very strong line-up of aircraft and a
tremendous amount of hard work has gone in to coming up with this
exciting programme - despite increased costs this year, due in no
small part to increased fuel prices," he said.
"We would obviously like to thank all the sponsors who have come
on board to help get this Air Show off the ground once again and
without their generous support none of this would be possible."
Cllr Double said that he hoped that local traders would benefit
from the number of visitors who will be pouring into Clacton over
the event.
"It is one of the biggest dates on the District's calendar and a
very popular one," he added.
"We pull in people from all over - many of whom come back year
after year to enjoy the thrills and spills both in the air and on
the ground." |
