The search is on to find out exactly how many people use
the petanque court at Clacton's Vista Road Recreation
Ground.
The court is next to the Clacton County High School fence and
has been vandalised on a number of occasions over recent
months.
Tendring District Council (TDC), which is responsible for the
facility, is now considering the way forward and is keen to find
out how many people still use it - even if only on a casual
basis.
Kirsty Horton, TDC's Play Officer, said the Council believed
that the Clacton Petanque Club - which previously used the court -
has now disbanded.
"We are considering a number of options at the moment," she
said.
"Before any decision is made we are keen to gauge the full usage
as it has open access and it is very difficult for the Council to
monitor just how many people make the most of the facility."
Anybody who plays petanque at Vista Road, or anyone who knows
whether the club is still in existence is asked to call Kirsty on
01255 686622 by June 1, 2009.
