Things can often get lost or forgotten when moving
house.
But with European and Essex County Council elections
fast-approaching, Tendring's Electoral Registration Officer John
Hawkins is urging people to make sure their right to vote isn't one
of them.
"If you have moved house since last autumn - whether you've
moved a couple of streets or to a different part of the UK, or
whether you've bought your home, or are renting - you need to make
sure you update your details," he said.
"This needs to be done by Tuesday May 19 if you want to vote on
June 4."
Mr Hawkins has teamed up with the Electoral Commission for a
national "Register to Vote Week" (May 4-10).
Both want to make sure that nothing comes between Tendring
residents and their chance to have a say on June 4 on who
represents them.
If you're not sure whether you are on the electoral register or
would like to be sent a registration form, contact Judith Raison
TDC's Electoral Services Manager on 01255 686586 or visit
www.aboutmyvote.co.uk,
where you can download a form.
You can also get information about the elections and even visit
a virtual polling station.
Tuesday May 19 is also the deadline to apply for a postal vote
or cancel or request changes to your existing postal vote.
