A Design Review Panel has visited Tendring today to
provide independent advice to applicants and the Council on some
key development projects.
The Advisory Panel has been set up as part of the Essex Design
Initiative which seeks to raise design standard for new development
and the public realm across Essex.
This is the first visit the Panel has made to a District Council
within Essex.
After looking at the plans, listening to Council officers and
the applicants and visiting the sites of the:
• Proposed Tesco Store in Lawford / Manningtree,
• The Lighthouse on Clacton Seafront and the
• Stanton Europark at Dovercourt
The panel will discuss what design recommendations it wishes to
make to the applicants.
Councillor Iris Johnson the Council's Planning Portfolio Holder
and Design Champion welcomed the initiative saying "this is an
excellent way of sharing design skills between organisations and
professional disciplines.
It follows on from a joint initiative earlier this week when the
District Council Members and colleagues from other authorities
looked at the lessons to be learnt from various recent development
projects in the District. It is pleasing to see Tendring in the
vanguard of this new
initiative." |
