Council Staff Look After Lost Lucky

Caring staff at Tendring District Council (TDC) are looking after a lost bunny until her owner can be found.

The rabbit was spotted on the side of the road on St Osyth Bypass by TDC dog warden Allen East as he was going about his duties around the District.

He parked up and went over to collect the bunny - which was sitting on the pavement - and she did not run off.

Mr East put her in his van and took her back to the office at Weeley where 'Lucky', as she has been named, is being spoilt by staff in Environmental Services.

"We kept Lucky in a kennel in the office overnight and we are making sure she has plenty to eat and is cared for until her owner can be traced," said administrative assistant Laraine Simon.

"She is obviously someone's pet and we would dearly like to get her back home as soon as possible as somebody must be missing her."

Lucky will be looked after over the weekend by a member of staff to ensure she is not lonely.

She is mainly black in colour and was found between St Claires Road and Clay Lane on the B1027 at about 2pm yesterday (Thursday).

An immediate appeal was put out on local radio station Dream 100 but so far no one has come forward.

Michael Talbot, TDC Portfolio Holder for the Environment, lives in St Osyth and is trying all his contacts in the village to see if he can discover who has lost a rabbit.

Anyone who thinks Lucky is theirs should contact Suzy King on 01255 686791 to claim her.
