Residents will be helping Tendring District Council (TDC)
to plant around 1,000 new trees in Clacton next week.
The saplings will be going into the ground in Dunthorpe Road on
Saturday March 28.
The initiative is part of a scheme to plant 10,000 new trees in
the District and the Council is coming towards the end of the
effort.
By the time the work at Dunthorpe Road has taken place there
will be just 50 more trees to plant.
TDC received £30,000 from Essex County Council after making a
successful bid for funding.
Pierre Oxley, Portfolio Holder for Leisure at TDC, thanked all
staff and volunteers who had been involved.
"The Council's own staff have spent many hours on this project
and we have been joined by schoolchildren, clubs, organisations and
residents from around the District," he said.
"It has been a true community effort all round."
Anyone going along to Dunthorpe Road to take part should park in
Raycliff Avenue and use the subway under the A133 to get the site,
and not park on the A133 itself.
Anyone wanting more information - or wanting to join the
planting session - should contact Kirsty Horton, TDC's Play Officer
on 01255 686622.
