More than £500 has been raised for Tendring District
Council Chairman Peter Balbirnie's charity fund - just weeks before
the end of his year in office.
A quiz was staged at Clacton's Princes Theatre where popular
quizmaster Adrian Robinson posed the questions to the teams taking
part.
The event attracted an excellent turnout and when all the money
was added up the fund was boosted by £541.56.
Cllr Balbirnie thanked all those who turned out and made it such
a successful fundraiser.
"It was an excellent evening and I was delighted that Adrian was
able to come along," he said. "The teams thoroughly enjoyed it and
battled hard for the honours on the night."
The winning team was named Special Measures and they were a bit
of a mystery entry.
They turned up on the night having seen the quiz advertised in
the Clacton Gazette earlier that day.
The five-strong team picked up a bottle of wine each and their
all important trophy for coming out top dogs on the night.
"I don't think they have been to one of the Chairman's quizzes
before and unfortunately we did not get their individual names or
where they came from," added Cllr Balbirnie. "However, it was good
to see a new team on the honour's board."
The Chairman's charities this year are Shopmobility, the Princes
Theatre Youth Company, the West Cliff Theatre Trust and play groups
in Little Clacton and
Weeley. |
