Youngsters in the Harwich and Dovercourt area are benefiting
from a new piece of equipment at the town's swimming pool.
A £3,000 15-metre long inflatable called Jungle Run has replaced
an old inflatable which was at the end of its useful life.
It was in place for the first time on Saturday (January 14) and
will prove popular with sessions staged every Saturday morning from
11am to 12pm.
Jungle Run will also be used for additional sessions in the
school holidays, on Thursdays from 10am to 12noon.
Stephen Mayzes, Tendring District Council's Cabinet Member for
Tourism and Community Life, said that equipment such as inflatables
help to encourage more young people to take part in activities at
the pool.
"Not only is it a chance for them to get out and have fun, meet
new friends and get some exercise but it also helps to improve
their well-being," he said.
"The previous inflatable at Dovercourt was extremely well-used
and was in desperate need of replacement in order to meet
operational requirements."
Anyone wanting further information about the Saturday morning
sessions, which cost £2.85, should contact the pool on 01255
508266.
