Millions will get the message that Tendring is open for business

Millions of people around the world are to receive the message that Tendring is very much open for business - and welcomes investors from overseas.

Feature Story News, the world's leading independent broadcast news agency, spent a day filming and interviewing people in the District.

The agency - which was established in 1992 and is based in Washington DC - is doing a feature on the 2012 Olympic Games and the effect it will have on the country.

Reporter Nina-Maria Potts, who works out of the agency's London bureau, approached Tendring District Council (TDC) to see if it would be willing to take part.

The Council was happy to be involved and set up filming and interviews with its Cabinet Member for Regeneration Sarah Candy, Clacton MP Douglas Carswell and Mark Penn, Chief Executive of Tendring Reuse and Employment Enterprise (T.R.E.E.).

A number of people were also interviewed outside Clacton Job Centre.

Cllr Candy said it was an ideal opportunity to put Tendring on the worldwide map and promote the District.

"It was a chance to talk about the challenges we face, such as pockets of deprivation and health inequalities, and the opportunities those challenges present to the Council and its various partners," she said.

"Tendring has its own unique selling points and we need to spread the message far and wide in the search for inward investors.

"The International Conference staged in Clacton last year enforced how important these investors are for everyone and we must not miss a trick to try to reach out to them."

Mr Carswell said the Government is relaxing restrictions which should help areas such as Tendring to develop in the future.

"If we can attract investment into the area it will lead to growth and we will take off," he said. "It is vital that we make it clear that we are open for business to the whole world.

"The Olympics will help to showcase the country and if investors want to come to Tendring it is important for them to know they have got partners here willing to work with them."

FSN also filmed at T.R.E.E.'s site at Plough Corner, Little Clacton, interviewing staff about the work it does to help get people into apprenticeships and employment, and filmed footage in Jaywick.

The agency supplies ready-to-air TV, radio and online material to networks around the globe.

Its reports reach millions of viewers throughout the world everyday and some of its clients include China Central Television, Channel News Asia, France 24, the German World Service, Deutsche Welle and the South African Broadcasting Corporation.

FSN also supplies commercial and public radio networks across America and internationally.
