Most of Tendring District Council's (TDC) car parks remain open today despite the snow and ice.

Staff have been out gritting where possible in an effort to maintain business as normal.

However there have been a small number of issues around the District - mostly in the Holland-on-Sea area.

Sites at York Road, Holland Haven and Hazlemere Road are out of operation along with the Martello Bay Coach Park at Clacton.

The top floors of Clacton High Street Car Park and Milton Road Car Park in Harwich are not able to be used because of snow and ice on the ramps.

All other sites remain open to the public.

Pam Sambridge, TDC's Cabinet Member for Technical Services, said that it was mainly car parks in exposed areas - such as along seafronts - which have been worst hit by the weather.

"Fortunately the majority of our car parks are in operation for those who needed to get to work or go out," she said.

"Our staff have done a terrific job in trying to make these facilities available for our residents."
