E-Government = Transformational Government
The Council is progressively introducing electronic access to
its services to enhance participation in, and access to, local and
national services for people residing in, or visiting, our
District. This will enable a fully integrated first point of access
to our services.
Tendring District Council is committed to quality and continuous
improvement and expects to continue to deploy information
technology to optimum effect and meet the demands, targets and
expectations of the Government and electronic service delivery for
the benefit of its citizens.
However, the Council recognises that technology alone does not
transform local government, but government cannot transform to meet
modern citizens' expectations without it. Transformation of service
delivery is about better access to services combined with greater
efficiency.
The Council's
ICT Strategy 2006-2011 sets out a five year plan for ICT at the
Council, including a vision of how ICT will continue to assist with
improving the Council's services.
The key focus of the ICT Strategy is "Using technology to deliver
better public services", and it aims to do this by :-
- Transforming the organisation into an e-enabled and efficient
service provider for its customers;
- Providing direction and focus for ICT across the whole
organisation;
- Aligning individual departmental ICT efforts towards achieving
the overall corporate goals;
- Providing a framework and governance mechanism for future ICT
projects and investments;
- Providing adequate capability and capacity for
self-service.
