A reduction is given to properties where a successful application is made under the Council Tax Disabilities Scheme. This means that the property is temporarily rebanded downwards by the Council to the next band. If you think you may qualify please contact the Council Tax Office. A disabled person must be in residence.

However, it is not the disability of the disabled person that attracts the relief, but one of the features listed below that is in the home to meet his/her needs.

• An extra room required by the disabled person to meet his/her special needs.
• An additional kitchen or bathroom (not a lavatory).
• Sufficient floor space to permit the use of a wheelchair in the home.
