Road Safety

Two pedestrians walking alongside a busy road

If you have attended one of our crucial crew events, we hope you enjoyed the Road Safety scenario.

There are a number of messages that we hope you will remember.

The most important message being: We all need to be responsible for our own safety

Who has accidents? We are all at risk!

Who is responsible for Road Safety? You Are!

Traffic is the single biggest cause of accidental death for 12-16 year olds. In 2004, 57 teens aged 11-16 were killed as pedestrians on Britain's roads along with 1,407 serious injuries and 6,013 slight injuries.

And what can you do to keep yourself safe?

- Concentrate when near to the road
- Use pedestrian facilities correctly
- Fasten your seat belts
- Wear bright colours/reflective clothing
- Use cycle helmets
- Avoid distracting drivers
