What is anti-social behaviour?

Anti-social behaviour (ASB) is acting in a manner that causes or is likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress to one or more persons not of the same household as the perpetrator.

Types of anti-social behaviour

- Noisy neighbours
- Groups of people hanging around in groups and making passers by feel scared.
- Vandalism
- Graffiti
- Fly-posting (putting up posters on buildings or walls when you do not have permission)
- People throwing litter
- Letting fireworks off at times when most people are asleep or in places where it could be dangerous.

Why is anti-social behaviour so bad?

- It makes people feel angry because others are deliberately upsetting them
- If there is a lot of anti-social behaviour in an area, people no longer want to live there.
- If people lose pride in the area they live in, the are can become run down and this can attract more bad behaviour.
- It makes people feel unhappy about their lives because people are always upsetting them.
