Benefits - What is Second Adult Rebate?
Second Adult Rebate is a form of Council Tax Benefit to help
people who are liable for Council Tax and have one or more adults
living in the property on a low income.
The rules for claiming Second Adult Rebate are different to main
Council Tax Benefit, as the income and capital for the claimant is
not taken into consideration; instead it is the income of the
Second Adult(s) in the property.
You cannot be awarded Council Tax Benefit and Second Adult
deducted from your Council Tax Bill; you will only be awarded one
or the other.
However, you will not be able to claim if these other people
are:
- A Partner
- Joint Owner
- Joint tenant
- Someone who pays rent to you
