or visit our Reception to arrange for an appointment:

You will then be asked by a Benefit Assessor for details of your household, your home, your finances and your capital. An appointment can be arranged at a time convenient to yourself; you will be advised about the documentary proof that will be required for your appointment and either sent out by post or given the relevant forms when you visit our reception. This will help us to speed up your calculation to entitlement to benefit; providing you bring all relevant information requested and your claim form to the appointment; you may be offered the option to wait while we assess your claim (an explanation of your entitlement will also be given). Unless there is a reason to delay assessing your claim, most claims will be assessed within a 24hr period.

We can offer New Claim appointments in Clacton on Sea, Frinton on Sea, Harwich, Brightlingsea and Manningtree; if you are unable to make an appointment due to health reasons or unable to arrange transport then we may be able to offer a home visit.

There are different types of claim form that you can complete; claim forms issued by the Council or forms issued by the Benefits Agency
