Benefits - How To Claim


You can get an application form to apply for Housing and Council Tax Benefit by the methods below:

  • Telephone the Benefits Help Line on 01255 686811
  • Visit the Reception at Council Tax Offices, 88-90 Pier Avenue, Clacton on Sea, Essex
    CO15 1TN or any of the following Councils cash offices.

You will then be asked for some details of your circumstances, and advised about the documentary proof that will be required for your claim. The completed claim form and supporting documents must be received back within one month of the date that you requested the form in order that your date of claim is the date that you first contacted us.

An interview appointment can also be arranged at a time convenient to yourself within that one month, in order to check the details on your completed claim form and the documentary proof provided. This will help us to speed up the calculation fo your entitlement and pay your benefit.

There are different types of claim form that you can complete; claim forms issued by the Council or forms issued by the Benefits Agency.
