Council Tax
Benefit
You can receive
help towards your Council
Tax even if you do not receive any other state benefits. It
also does not matter if you already receive a discount on your
Council Tax, for example if you live alone.
Amount of Benefit
Payable
The amount of
benefit you receive will depend on your personal circumstances,
such as:
-
Whether you share the
liability with someone other than your partner
-
The amount of your income
and savings
-
The amount that the
government says you need to live on
-
Whether you have any other
adults living with you
-
The amount of Council Tax
(where you are the person liable to pay)

Second Adult Rebate
-
If your income or savings
are too high, for you to qualify, you may still be able to claim up
to 25% off your Council Tax bill. This may apply if you are the
only person liable to pay the bill and there are other adults
living with you who are on a low income.
The table below is
a general guide to the amount of income that the Second Adult(s) in
your property will need to be on to be classed as being on a low
income.
