Clacton appointed its first Town Centre Manager in June 2007 and this contract ran until March 2009.

Following the award of new funding, a new Town Centre Co-ordinator was appointed in March 2010, whose role has been extended to cover all the key town centres in the District including Clacton, Walton, Frinton, Manningtree, Harwich, Dovercourt and Brightlingsea.

The Town Centre Co-ordinator will predominately work in the following areas:

• Assist in the promotion of each town centre
• Encourage and assist new local businesses to open in some of the empty shops in our high streets
• Develop new ways of increasing footfall in our towns
• Assist existing retailers with access to business support, tarining and development
• Develop partnerships with local businesses, Chambers and Business Associations
