If land is occupied for camping purposes on more than forty-two consecutive days or more than sixty days in any twelve consecutive months then a licence must be obtained from the local authority.

When issued the licence may have conditions on it, for example, in relation to spacing and sanitation.

There is no fee for applying for a camp site licence.

This application is subject to tacit approval under the European Union Services Directive. Applications are dealt with within 28 days of receipt of a full application.
