National Non Domestic Rates - Hardship Relief

Tendring District Council can award up to 100% relief from Business Rates. We normally only do this in extreme cases of hardship and for businesses which are particularly important to the local community. This takes account of the fact that local Council Taxpayers will cover part of the cost of the relief.

In order for the Council to consider granting hardship relief, an application must be made in writing, including copies of fully audited accounts. Each case will be considered on its own merits.

Please click here for a business rates relief application form. When completing the form please make sure you include all of the following:

  • Your current and previous 2 years audited accounts
  • Details of your income and expenditure over the last 3 months if not covered in your audited accounts
  • Your last 3 months bank statements
  • Make sure you have completed all relevant sections of the form
  • Provide any documentary evidence to support your claim
  • Sign and date the form at the bottom
