Rates
Tendring District Council collects National Non
Domestic Rates (Business Rates) from 7,500 ratepayers.
Businesses and other occupiers of
non-domestic properties pay Non-Domestic Rates (also known as
Business Rates) to directly contribute towards the costs of local
authority services.
Many people believe that business rates
are automatically spent by the local council. In fact, the money is
paid into a national pool and then distributed back to local
councils according to the number of people living in their
areas.
