NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH

Neighbourhod Watch LogoMany people are helping to reduce and prevent crime and it is generally accepted that this is most successful when everybody is involved – not only the police but also the local Council, businesses, Neighbourhood Action Panels (NAPS), schools and local communities.

Neighbourhood Watch is a popular way for people of all ages and backgrounds to get involved and it brings local people together to address local crime issues.

This can include keeping an eye on each other’s property, improving home security and sharing crime prevention advice.

Become a Street Co-ordinator

Neighbourhood Watch StickerThe Tendring Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership are actively supporting Neighbourhood Watch and I hope that you will consider becoming a Neighbourhood Watch Street Co-ordinator for your street.

More information about Neighbourhood Watch is available by contacting the Neighbourhood Watch Team, 01255 254052

Alternatively you can download and complete the form by clicking on the link below.  If you are interested in signing up as a co-ordinator, contact the above number and you can be put in touch with Section Co-ordinator for your area.  (There are five sections in the District mirroring the police division – Clacton, Walton, Harwich, Mistley and Brightlingsea.)

Download and print out an application form to join your local Neighbourhood Watch HERE.

Keeping in Touch

Essex Police logoNeighbourhood Watch also includes building two-way communication with the police and this has recently been improved greatly with the arrival of a new system called Ringmaster.  The Ringmaster system is a simple method of enabling the police to provide information to Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinators through their telephone to keep them informed about what is happening in their area or across the District.

Emails are used to produce a Weeky Bulletin, you do not have to be a

co-ordinator to sign up for this.

I look forward to receiving your help in reducing crime and disorder across the Tendring District and helping it to remain one of the safest places in Essex, the fourth safest County in the country.

"Neighbourhood Watch is one of the strongest forces operating in the United Kingdom today to bind local communities and get them pulling together to fight crime and disorderly behaviour."

Jack Straw MP, Home Secretary
